1. General information
The purpose of this subject is to recognize and understand the emergence of new educational needs and, consequently, of new educational spaces and agents within the framework of complex societies. To this end, it is necessary to delve deeper into some areas of non-formal and informal education -family, community, media, associations, local agents, ICT, etc.- recognizing possible lines of future research. The aim is to obtain a vision of the fundamental social transformations in Western societies in recent decades and their implications in the field of education, especially in non-formal and informal education. The focus will be on SDGs 3: Health and Wellbeing 4: Quality Education Goal 10: Reducing Inequalities Goal 12: Responsible Production and Consumption

To reflect on training as a lifelong process in different scenarios and life stages.

To have an overview of the fundamental social transformations in Western societies in recent decades and their implications in the field of education, especially in non-formal and informal education.

To recognize and understand the emergence of new educational needs and, consequently, of new educational spaces and agents within the framework of complex, global and democratic societies.
By way of example, it explores in depth some of these areas of non-formal and informal education -family, social networks, community, media, associations, local agents, ICT, etc.- recognizing possible lines of future research.
3. Syllabus
This subject is approached from four blocks:
Block I. Education in post-modern societies: some fundamental keys
Block II. Family. Education in social networks
Block III. The community and the surrounding environment
Block IV. The media

Participation in theoretical and practical activities. Short application and development activities will be carried out individually or in groups on the various topics covered and then commented collectively. Activities will involve reading and discussion of texts, reflection, problem solving or case studies and research, as well as the design of assignments or materials.

5. Assessment system
The assessment of the subject includes an overall test that consists of an essay based on the recommended readings and that represents 100% of the grade.
The assessment criteria of the subject are the following:
a) Formal presentation (legibility, proper citation or reference of texts, etc.).
b) Justification in relation to the subject matter and theoretical foundation
c) Organisation and coherence of the subject matter.
d) Originality, reflection and critical ability.
e) Quality and correctness of written expression.
f) Quality and currency of the bibliography used.
g) Oral and written communication skills.
The student must pass the essay with a grade higher than 5.
The subject follows a single assessment method, without any distinction between continuous assessment and an overall test. The assessment instruments, criteria and requirements specified above will apply to all students regardless of their circumstances.
